Sony Quietly Kills off Playstation Mobile Development for Android

We’ve learned the unfortunate news – Sony is killing off their development and support for Playstation Mobile on Android devices.

Playstation Mobile will function only on Android Devices running 4.4.2 or older, while phones and tablets that are preloaded with 4.4.3 or updated with such may see their Playstation Mobile content borked.

If you’re worried about missing out on Playstation Mobile, so long as you’re running 4.4.2 or earlier, you’ll be able to access the Playstation Store and redownload or purchase content. Sony is promising that they will focus on support for Playstation Vita and Playstation (Vita) TV moving forward, but we’ll see how that goes.

While Playstation Mobile was a bold new program by Sony to help bolster development of games on their various platforms, it was haphazardly marketed and sadly underappreciated. It’s a shame, because with PSM we got amazing games like Velocity Ultra, which eventually made their way to Playstation Vita and Playstation 3.

As long as it doesn’t affect the vita side I’ll be happy. We still need PSM next year for SekaiProject to release “World End Economica” and “Fault Milestone One”.

Aren’t they working on making them native to the Vita?

Took a look around the PSM game list one day and I can honestly say there is not going to be much of a loss here. Lots of shovelware type stuff and a bunch of untranslated games for some reason. Not really sure where Sony was trying to go with this venture.

They already are, what I meant is that I don’t want them to discontinue the vita side as I know that games are coming.
