Sony Porting Original PS2 Versions of Jak and Daxter Games to PS4, Not Remastered Collection

In a surprise reveal, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced they’re porting the original PlayStation 2 versions of all the Jak and Daxter games to PlayStation 4.

The new ports include the original games, including: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3, and even Jak X: Combat Racing, as PlayStation 2 Classics on PlayStation 4.

Featured above, a new trailer was released to showcase Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy running on the PlayStation 4’s PS2 emulator. Fans can expect the games to be up-rendered to run at 1080p and support modern features like trophies, Shareplay, remote play, and activity feeds.

The move is a bit strange as Sony previously released the fully remastered Jak and Daxter Collection on both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, so it will be interesting to see how the straight emulated versions of the games compare to the remastered ones. It’s worth mentioning the collection did not include Jak X: Combat Racing.
