Sony: Our E3 2015 First-Party Lineup is Sparse, Greater Emphasis on Third-Party Support

At a special meeting last week (via GamesIndustry) Sony Computer Entertainment CEO, Andrew House, made some interesting statements. He indicated how E3 will unfold and where the upcoming year will take PlayStation. In this statements, perhaps most intriguing is the following:

“We are working very hard to continue very strong support from third-party pubs and devs. Our first-party lineup is a little sparse this year, so I think this places even greater emphasis on getting good third-party support.

I would characterize 2015 as the beginning of a harvest period for the PlayStation 4 platform…..The beginning of a harvest period. That being said, we are also undertaking to invest in the future, and 2015 will also be a year of investment.”

With less than two weeks before E3 and the PlayStation Keynote press conference, these words are rather strange as well as concerning. Coupled with the fact that new releases have included HD Remasters and primarily independent games, PlayStation’s press conference, as well as its plans for the foreseeable year, could very well involve a very strong degree of third-party and independent support. This possibly leaves a very limited amount of first-party developed games from Sony.

Niche Gamer Nation, what do you guys think? What do you think will be announced at their presser?
