New PlayStation handheld being developed by Sony, say new rumor

New PlayStation handheld

A new rumor is making the rounds that a new PlayStation handheld is in the works at Sony, despite how much they screwed up PS Vita support.

The new rumor claims a new PlayStation handheld is reportedly (via Insider Gaming) in the works – and it’s codenamed the “Q Lite.” The new handheld is apparently already in the Q&A phase, and is coming sooner than you think.

If true Sony hasn’t learned from their mistakes with the PS Vita, however, because the new handheld will require the PlayStation 5 and will not be a streaming device, it will be focused entirely on their Remote Play feature.

The handheld will reportedly feature adaptive streaming up to 1080p and 60 frames per second, and will naturally require a constant connection to the internet.

Early prototypes of the console purportedly confirmed it looks more like a PlayStation 5 controller, but with a giant 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the center.

Furthermore, the handheld apparently has adaptive triggers for haptic feedback, another feature Sony is pushing hard.

Lastly, if the rumor is true, the Q Lite handheld will apparently be released before the also-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro and the also rumored Detachable Disc Drive PS5 model.
