New rumors are swirling that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are skipping E3 2023’s big return to form this summer.
The first rumor (via IGN) claims “multiple knowledgeable sources” are reporting all of the big three game platforms / companies are not making an appearance at the annual trade show.
Microsoft recently confirmed they would be returning to Los Angeles this year for their own show – though they didn’t share further details on the event. It’s rumored the company will have its own standalone event, not affiliated with E3.
Shortly after the above rumor hit, Geoff Keighley promptly reminded enthusiasts that Summer Game Fest 2023 is set for June 8th, the same week as E3, so the two will go toe to toe over reveals and sponsors. This only added to the rumors and speculation that big companies are skipping E3.
E3 2023 is set to run from June 13th through the 16th, and will feature separate industry-only and public-access days.
The Entertainment Software Association has yet to comment on the rumor, nor have any of the big three platform holders. We’ll keep you guys posted.
