We’ve extensively covered the People’s Republic of China and their wonderful end of the soft ban on foreign video game consoles. With my wife being from mainland China, I’ve talked with many natives over how silly the ban was, and how most of them still got foreign consoles on the black market anyway.
Despite Microsoft beating Sony to the punch and already releasing the Xbox One in the region, Sony has yet to reveal their plans for a hardware launch in the country – until now. Via A9VG, we’ve learned the company is hosting a press conference this month.
On December 11th, the company will talk up their Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita launch plans in China. The actual press conference is going down in Shanghai, which is also the region where the foreign game consoles themselves have to be manufactured in the free trade zone within Shanghai itself.
Coming from this, all of the games, peripherals, and hardware has to be inspected by the People’s Republic of China cultural committee to be sold to natives within the country. Could we also be learning about potential Chinese developers working on stuff for the consoles?
We’ll keep you guys posted.
