Sony is Going to Reveal its “Slimmest” Launch in History

ps vita 2000

In a tease sent to IGN, it seems Sony is going to reveal a new slimmer model of one of their existing pieces of hardware. Set at the end of this month, Sony is inviting the press to a breakfast briefing in which they’ll reveal the “slimmest” launch in Playstation history.

What could it be? Despite Japan getting the slimmer, cheaper Playstation Vita, the West has yet to see its release. The Playstation Vita 2000 model is 20% percent thinner, 15% percent lighter, and also loses the gorgeous OLED screen for a plain old LCD display.

While this could be anything, it most definitely seems to be a final confirmation of when Western gamers can get their hands on the more affordable Playstation Vita slim. I wonder what they’ll call it – the Playstation Vita Slim, The PS Vita 2000, or maybe they’ll just keep the same name?

I’m one of those nutty gamers who prefers the Vita to the 3DS. I love both, but my Vita is where most of my handheld gaming takes place.

That being said, I’m not getting rid of my white Vita (Got the one that came with Assassin’sCreed) for one that gets rid of the OLED screen. Nah. I’ll keep it, thanks.

Still, this might entice others to take the leap. They should, because the Vita is a retro gamer’s wet dream. I have all the Final Fantasy games, all 5 Persona games, and a slew of original PSN games….all saved digitally on my 32GB card. It’s an amazing RPG machine. I wish people would take the time to see WHY.
