Sony has released a good number of their big titles to PC now, the most recent being Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It seems their popular racing series Gran Turismo might come to PC, too.
The Gran Turismo World Finals, a major esports event with the game, has begun. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi (also the president of Gran Turismo’s developer Polyphony Digital) talked about potential plans of bringing Gran Turismo to PC.
“Yes, I do think so,” Yamauchi said to GTPlanet. It seems that there were other factors beyond desire which might hold back the project.
“Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title,” he said. “There are not many platforms which could run the game in 4K/60p natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it.”
It seems that plans are already underway to see if a PC port is possible, but it depends on if the team can be satisfied with performance as PC is a platform with a wide range of systems. Of course, Gran Turismo 7, the most recent entry for the series, did launch on PlayStation 4 with reduced settings.
In other news related to the franchise, the movie has begun filming with its launch date coming in August 2023. You can also check out our review of the most recent title here.
