One animated Sony fan is calling for Alanah Pearce from Santa Monica studios to be fired after she revealed she was playing Starfield.
Alanah Pearce achieved some notoriety as the gamer who manually flew between planets to test if you actually had to fast travel. Short answer? Yes, you need to fast travel. Long answer? You can technically get there but the planet won’t load so it’s just an insubstantial visual artifact.
However just playing Starfield was enough to stoke the cringe console war in the heart of at least one Twitter user who called for Pearce’s job when they learned she’d dared to touch Starfield.
Alanah Pearce should be fired for promoting Xbox Games on a public platform like this.
Extremely unprofessional and demonstrates a lack of loyalty & seriousness to PlayStation, her employer.
Of course more level-headed fans were quick to call out the behavior, including industry veteran Mark Kern.
Tensions are high in the so-called “console war” in the past few years, and it’s been intensified further by the recent acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft. During the beginning stages of the deal, Sony seemed to do everything they could to keep it from going through but ultimately failed.
Starfield is available now on September 6th on Windows PC (via Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
