Sony has announced a partnership with both GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame at the annual Game Developers Conference to help budding Playstation 4 developers bring their games to the platform.

YoYo Games and Sony Computer Entertainment have collaborated on developing a GameMaker: Studio-native solution to porting games made within the suite to Playstation 4, making it simpler for developers to bring 2D games to the platform.

Sony dropped some names that were made possible as a part of this new deal, specifically Teknopants’ Samurai Gunn, Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Drifter, Hopoo Games’ Risk of Rain, Vlambeer’s Nuclear Throne, and finally Benjamin Rivers’ Home.

MonoGame is a C+ based open sourced engine that was first used by Matt Makes Games in developing Towerfall: Ascension on Playstation 4. This engine is also going to be key to Tribute Games bringing over Mercenary Kings, and Supergiant Games porting over Transistor to Playstation 4.

Both GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame are available to every Playstation licensed developer. Sony also revealed a fully integrated solution for Unity developed games being ported to Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, and that an early access version for the Playstation 4 would be coming next month.
