Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe is being made, says live-action movie producer

Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe

As the second live-action film approaches, its movie producers have proclaimed they’re making a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe, with the hope of even more film adaptations.

“We’re creating a Sonic cinematic universe, so we knew we were going to add characters, like Tails and Knuckles; new to the films but beloved by gamers all over the world,” film producer Toby Ascher said to VGC.

As covered in our previous coverage, Sonic is voiced by Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey is voicing Tails, and Idris Elba is voicing Knuckles the Echidna. Jim Carrey is returning as Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden is returning as Sonic’s human friend Tom, and Tika Sumpter is returning as Tom’s wife, Maddie.

If the news that Sega and the film production are envisioning a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe a la Marvel’s bloated offerings makes you want to barf, our review for the first Sonic the Hedgehog film praised its adaptation. We’ll have a thorough review on the movie sequel soon – of which we’re hopeful it will be as good as its progenitor.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is set to premiere on April 8th, 2022. In case you missed it, you can find the debut trailer for the second movie here.
