Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Live-Action Movie to Begin Filming in March 2021

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Live-Action Movie

While we’ve known a Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie sequel is already in the works, we’ve learned the live-action followup is ready to begin filming soon after the new year.

The news comes from a listing on the Creative BC Film Commission website (via Gameindustry.biz), which handles movies shot in British Columbia, Canada – for a production codenamed “Emerald Hill.” That secretive project is set to begin filming on March 15th, 2021.

As Sonic the Hedgehog fans are well aware – Emerald Hill is the name of the first zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Furthermore, the first movie’s producers, Neal H Moritz, Nan Morales, and the original director Jeff Fowler are all attached to the project.

Lastly, production on the film is supposed to wrap up by May 10th, with scheduling obviously dependent on staying on track as delays may happen with coronavirus concerns. The original Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie hit theaters worldwide back in February 2020.
