I love how the elevator lists all the Genesis Sonic games in order. That was a pretty nice touch.

Yakuza, Persona, Bayonetta & Vanquish PC ports and a good 2D Sonic game? SEGA’s knocking it outta the park lately.

Day 1 for me. 20$ is the most I’m willing to pay for a digital only
game. I would’ve even gotten the collector’s edition had there been a
    physical copy in there.

That Sonic CD animated artstyle is pure porn. Hope their’s more of it in the final game.

too much for a game that is essentially a flash fan made game

There is a lot more work being done on this than on your typical Newgrounds shovelware. Twenty bucks is only fair.

You’re thinking of the 3-D one with the character creator. This one’s for the old folk.

It being made by fans doesn’t make it any less valuable, particularly when it’s fans who’ve perfectly recreated the classic physics and gameplay in a way that Sega hasn’t been able to do since the Genesis. This is looking far better than your typical nu-pixel indieshit.

Reminder that each episode of Sonic 4 was like $14.99 when they first launched, and Mania is looking to have more content than both of them put together (and also be a far better game in general).

    I know right?
I was honestly surprised, and an extra discount for buying it now too.

But it seems some people consider anything that is 2d these days as “a flash fan made game”.

When I was a kid these games cost $50, $60 or more.
It was still worth it to me back then, $20 for this is an absolute steal by comparison.

Never pay more than $20.00 for a video game.

But yeah, I imagine it’ll be short-ish, but reasonably difficult and replay value if you want to improve your times for perfect runs.

This was a hail Mary- they marketed it like the next big thing and it paid off. Low budget, high hype, high profit.

I dont think the medium or the people working on it are as important as the result, and the result is fuckin sweet. The 2d sonic fan game community is probably the best at this anyway.

They should bring Segata back, not only is Fujioka in peak condition, he would be glad to do it.
You can expect no less of the original Kamen Rider.

They now just need a new Space Channel 5 and a Jet Set Radio, the aesthetic crowd would cream themselves and make them millions.

I dont think if they are gonna have cutscenes. This entire animation was made by one guy and they didnt have the time or manpower to color it :(

We keep seeing this pattern that other people do Sega better than Sega haha, I hope they get Flynn, he does Capcom better than Capcom too, that man deserves all the bucks.

yeah, honestly, I was really hoping he would be writting Forces (the whole game kinda feels like the comics: a Resistance, Eggman being an actual threat, the more serious tone) but no. The game’s story us being written in Japan with Warren Graff doing the english dialogue (I almost punched my screen in anger when I found this out, why did they not fire him and Pontac after the atrocity that was Sonic Lost World’s story?! I just hope he understands the tone and don’t cram in a bunch of juvenile jokes this time.)

The man has been wanting to write for a game since forever and lost the chance when Sega pick Pontac and Graff over him for Colors, hopefully he’ll get his chance next time.

Such a shame, Flynn would have made it perfect. At least we have Mania where Sonic is finally allowed to shut up for five minutes.

This style has so much more charm and originality to it.

I was never a fan of the weird gangly looking style introduced in the Dreamcast era.
