Sonic Frontiers will be the “cornerstone” for future Sonic games

Sonic Frontiers

Sonic Frontiers has launched to rather good success from their apparent Steam numbers and critical scores. This is a good thing for Sega, as they teased it will be the “cornerstone” of Sonic games moving forward.

Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka spoke with Sector about the franchise moving forward. He compared Sonic Frontiers to the famed Sonic Adventure, which brought the hedgehog into 3D during a pivotal time for the gaming industry.

“Just like Sonic Adventure, our goal for Sonic Frontiers was to create a game that would be the cornerstone of future Sonic games.” Iizuka said, who also respected the past of the longrunning game series.

He added, “It is a brand-new approach for the franchise, but we have been conscious to honor Sonic’s roots as well – the game still needs to feel like a Sonic game.”

Much has been going on for the franchise after it entered over 30 years of existence after the original game back in 1991. He has received two live-action films with great success with a third one already on the way.

Meanwhile, the Netflix television series will be arriving soon and another live-action series is being produced for Paramount+, is set to release some time in 2023.
