There are a few caveats, however, as there seems to be in-app purchases now, meaning if you want to get everything up front you’ll either have to pay or play it diligently.

The kart racer is critically acclaimed and loved by fans, and it’s pretty easy to see why. Combining brilliant visuals, addicting kart based gameplay, and all of the Sega characters you (hopefully) grew up with, it’s pretty hard to pass down this game for free.

Alongside this game being made free to play is the announcement that a new update will be hitting the game, bringing with it Wreck-it Ralph and Metal Sonic, as well as two new tracks – the beachfront resort from OutRun Bay, and an asteroid laden Galactic Parade course.
