This is a video game released by a young man named Charlie. We don’t know he is or what he looks like but, according to his post on the PlayStation Blog, he has been making shooty games since 2005. This is his latest creation, Son of Scoregasm. Son of Scoregasm is the sequel to Scoregasm, released in 2011.
It is a colorful space shooter that is inspired by games such as Geometry Wars and Tempest with constantly shaping colors and enemies. Player will descend into the dark abysss with constantly changing level formats and enemy formations.
Some of the unique aspects of the game include interlinking paths. This means that, unlike most space shooters, you can progress on a non-linear path. This unconventional design allows for either easier levels or more hardcore levels. Also, Charlie mentions the core pulse attack.
In most space shooters, this is the panic button when one is overwhelmed by enemy forces. Though here, it is the way to break through the game and score high. The pulse can also manipulate enemies and turn them in your favor. The game is also a twinstick shooter that will use the uniqueness of the PS Vita.
The game is slate for release “very soon.” which likely means within the next few weeks to months as the Summer approaches. Be sure to check out the game by visiting Charlie’s site. Until then, check out the video above!
