Someone is Building an Ambitious, Classical MMORPG Within Minecraft

Envision Studios, a small indie development team led by a veteran dev from Grinding Gear Games (Path of Exile), have been working on an ambitious overhaul of Minecraft since 2015. That overhaul has become its own game, a classic-styled MMORPG called Hegemony.

The game, which uses Minecraft as a base game engine, will apparently be entirely free-to-play and will have all its custom content calculated server-side. Featured above, you can view a new trailer for the game’s full release, which is set for sometime this winter.

To play Hegemony, all you need is an unmodified Minecraft client, and there is no download required – you simply connect to the servers they’ve been hosting since 2015.

The game’s setting is likened to a parallel world in late-Medieval early-Renaissance period of Europe.” Envision Studios is promising at least “1500 hours of content” for the full release, a huge map, constant updates, and even conquerable land.

If you want to see more on Hegemony, head on over to the game’s official site.
