Maggots unite as Slipknot skins are now available in SMITE!

Apparently masked rockers Slipknot have decided to go all in with Web3 and their latest collaboration is to bring their iconic look to Hi-Rez Studios popular MOBA SMITE: Battleground of the Gods. Slipknot fans, affectionately known as “the maggots” can now unite playing as their favorite members of the legendary Nu-Metal band as three different gods each receive three playable characters as alternate skins.

Playing as Poseidon, players have the option of choosing between #8 vocalist – Corey Taylor, #0 DJ – Sid Wilson, or #5 keyboard/sampler – Craig Wilson, better known to fans as 133.

In order to play as Slipknot’s guitarists, you’ll want to use Chaac, who has the skins of #4 guitarist – Jim Root, #7 guitarist – Mick Thompson, or bassist – Alessandro Venturella.

Finally, to play as Slipknot’s percussion squad, you’ll want to play as Raijin, who has the skins of drummer – Jay Weinberg, percussionist – Michael Pfaff, and #6 percussionist – Shawn Crahan, better known to fans as Clown.

These battle animations look incredible. Seeing Chaac’s axe become a badass guitar is one thing, but the Taiko Drums summoning the full drum kit along with the immediately recognizable tribal S logo in the sky above is a super sweet look. This might be one of the coolest collaborations I’ve seen any game do with a rock band.

As a big Slipknot fan, there’s a good chance this collaboration might just be enough to make me pop back into SMITE for the first time in about 3 years. What do you guys think? Stupid cash grab? SMITE‘s sort of become known for having some really big collaboration skins, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and even Bob Ross! Anyone else considering returning to (or jumping into) SMITE now that these Slipknot skins are available?
