Following the seemingly accidental leak by European retailer ShopTo, Sony has confirmed that yes, the new slim model of the Playstation Vita is coming to the continent.
There’s a few things to consider with this confirmation though, for one it’s for Europe only, and it will come with one gigabyte of internal memory, alongside the other upgrades from the previous model, namely:
- OLED being replaced by the LCD
- 15% percent lighter
- 20% percent thinner
- Longer battery life
- A micro USB port replacing the proprietary charger
- A new rounded shape, alongside new power notification indicators
The price for the slim Playstation Vita comes in at a suggested £180, and it will launch on February 7th. The new slim Vita will eventually replace the original model, the PCH-1000 series, as the stock of those units dwindles.

As mentioned before, the new model is not confirmed for America, but you better believe that it’s coming at some point.
