Sleepy Hollow is getting a 4K remaster

Sleepy Hollow

Paramount Home Media has announced they’re prepping up a 4K remaster for Sleepy Hollow, the 1999 horror classic directed by Tim Burton.

The film is getting a 4K remaster in both regular 4K packaging and a limited edition swanky SteelBook release that apparently comes with a booklet. Take a look:

A release date for the new Sleepy Hollow 4K is coming just in time for Halloween – on September 5th.

The film is a modern retelling of Washington Irving’s classic “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” and stars Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, and Casper Van Dien.

Production on the film originally began way back in 1993 at Paramount with Kevin Yagher set to direct a script from Andrew Kevin Walker’s script, which originally envisioned the film as a low-budget slasher film.

Disagreements in production led to Tim Burton being installed as director in 1998, after which filming took place in Germany and the United States and post-production wrapped up for the premiere the following year.

Like most of Burton’s films, Danny Elfman produced its excellent soundtrack – highlighting the final film’s mix of brooding atmosphere, dark humor, chilling effects, and of course – bits of horror.
