Skyrim is Getting an Official Fishing

Bethesda recently announced a new anniversary edition for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and chief among the new additions is the reveal that Skyrim is getting an official fishing mini-game.

Skyrim is getting an official fishing mini-game as part of the new 10th anniversary update for all versions of the game, meaning even the original versions of the game will soon get a fishing mode with quests and everything.

Bethesda showed off the new mode during this year’s QuakeCon, where we got the first initial look at the official mini-game (featured above).

“You don’t have to dive in the water and click blindly anymore,” managing director Ashley Cheng said. “You can now grab a fishing pole, do some fishing quests. It’s a great addition to the game. It’ll be free to everyone.”

Those who currently own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on any platform (including via Xbox Game Pass) will gain access to three free pieces of Creation Club content; the Saints and Seducers quests, Survival Mode, and Fishing. Those who own the game on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 can get a free upgrade to the Anniversary Edition on November 11th as well.

As mentioned in our previous report, also included in the Anniversary Edition are over 500 pieces of unique content from the Creation Club. These include more quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, and spells.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is launching on November 11th, 2021 on the aforementioned platforms, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
