If you’re like me and ever wondered what Skyrim would be like with your friends, you wait is finally over. The Together Team has finally released their long-anticipated mod, Skyrim Together Reborn which aims to create a seamless multiplayer experience for you and your friends to journey forth into an adventure.
The mod itself has been extensively stress tested for 2-8 players, but the team does state that they have tested the mod with over 30 players on one server. The mod also only supports the latest patches for Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition, meaning you will, unfortunately, will not be able to play the Skyrim: Very Special Edition online with your friends.
Since the mod’s release on July 8th, it has been a massive success for the team with over 90,000 downloads in 3 days, on Nexus Mods alone. At the time of writing the mod has been downloaded over 130,000 times in total.
While the mod has been happily received by eager fans, it has not been without its setbacks and issues. Even with issues, the only one that seems to be directly affecting the mod itself is that some servers do not seem to function properly, but the team has promised a hot fix soon.
With the success of the release of this mod, the team posted on the r/SkyrimTogether subreddit about the future of the mod. Overall, they seem to have been overwhelmed by the love for the mod and have thanked their fans for their long-lasting patience and support.
You may have noticed at the end of their post, the team has hinted that the mod is finished, and they plan to move on to different projects. They promise to remain available to help guide and support new modders and developers, but they wish to work on new content going forward.
It is also important to know that this same team is also working on an online cooperative mod for Fallout 4 so that may be the project that they are talking about.
Bethesda Games are unique in the sense that mod support and dedicated content creators have transformed their games into timeless experiences that can be picked up and played by returning players and new fledging adventurers alike. This is also not the first time an Elder Scrolls title has gotten the online mod treatment.
The Open Morrowind Multiplayer mod has been running for many years now to great success as well. The future of Bethesda game modding continues to look bright, so throw on your Iron helmet, grab your spellbook and hop into another Elder Scrolls Adventure today!
