Bloodborne looked spectacular. Regardless of how From Software fans feel about it in comparison to the Dark Souls games, most people will admit that it looked great in comparison when it came to visuals. The bloom, depth of field, and all the other related visual effects just looked better than in the Dark Souls games.
With the recent announcement from Silicon Studio, fans of Dark Souls have call to rejoice. The same post effect middleware that was used in Bloodborne – YEBIS 2 – will be utilized for Dark Souls III. YEBIS 2 is responsible for all the great effects seen in Bloodborne, including everything from Anti-Aliasing to HDR Rendering.
According to the press release from Silicon Studios regarding the update, it is said that the use of YEBIS 2 will greatly improve the post effects in Dark Souls III in comparison to Dark Souls and Dark Souls II.
The two above screenshots here also demonstrate YEBIS’ post effects.
Dark Souls III is launching on March 26th in Japan on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the worldwide PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One release date yet to be confirmed.
