Following the troubling rumors and statements we saw yesterday, Konami has gone on the record to confirm that Silent Hills, their incredible looking new take on the survival horror series, has been cancelled.
You can find the statement from Konami below:
Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.
In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.
How do you guys feel about this? Are you upset the game will never be? It’s worth mentioning the playable demo for Silent Hills will be removed from the Playstation Network this coming Wednesday, April 29th – so make sure to get it before it’s gone!

Whatever happened between Kojima and Konami must be one hell of a story.
We don’t see stuff like this happen every day.

April 27, 2015 at 11:03 amSo-whose coffee was Kojima caught stirring with his dick?
Cause that’s the only thing I can think of to cause all of this crap.

April 27, 2015 at 11:05 amSo they release a playable teaser that gets everyone’s hype meter overflowing only to cancel the game 8 months later? What the hell did Kojima do? (or not do)

April 27, 2015 at 11:19 amI don’t believe Kojima is totally innocent in whatever happened. There is always to side to every story.

April 27, 2015 at 11:20 amKonami has been cancelled.

April 27, 2015 at 11:29 amI am not upset. Never cared for the prospects of a game being developed in cooperation with Hollywood folks, but Kojima’s involvement would have forced the project unto my radar despite my reservations.
Now I can go back to believing the Silent Hill series ending with the fourth game.

April 27, 2015 at 11:52 amLet’s be honest here: Considering Kojima’s ego and his hard-on for Hollywood the game’s narrative would have been verbose, overly derivative garbage.
But even with or without Kojima, the visuals would have had a chance to look amazing and, maybe, the gameplay could have been engaging enough to withstand the dumb jump-scare type of horror PT had (being startled and being tense for the inevitable next jump-scare is not the same as being scared).
tl;dr It would likely have been shit no matter what, but it could have been fun shit, and Konami killed the possibility. For a company that allowed abominations like Homecoming and Downpour I’m pissed.

April 27, 2015 at 12:09 pmIs Konami going to go the way of Capcom?

April 27, 2015 at 12:24 pmWho cares about the narrative? I play Kojima stuff for his game play, which tend to be superb. Besides Silent Hill’s storylines are very over rated.

April 27, 2015 at 12:30 pmWell, Konami is already dead.
This was going to be promising. Yet they cancelled it. Kojima left so MGSV will be the last proper MGS game. Castlevania is pretty much dead, and everything else is either terrible or forgotten.
RIP Konami. You used to be good.

April 27, 2015 at 5:48 pmI think the SH stories are integral to the games and well done (the first three, anyway) but yeah I can agree that they are over rated after all these years.
Like I said, it had the potential to be fun, which Konami just culled

April 27, 2015 at 6:31 pmIf Kojima uses this leave from Konami to use his mind the way he’d like to and expand upon either Snatcher or Zone of the Enders OR create a new IP, I won’t even care that Silent Hills is cancelled.

April 27, 2015 at 6:55 pmCan’t wait for another western studio to do their brilliant take on the IP! Maybe they will ask DICE to make the next one.
Grey
April 27, 2015 at 11:57 pmYou know, I hope Del Toro and Kojima decide to team up on a whole new horror IP instead. Those two don’t need Silent Hill to make something interesting. They can even get Norman Reedus for it again, I’m sure he’d be up for it.

April 29, 2015 at 12:04 amI’m probably one of the rare peepz who liked what I saw of the 1st person demo but didn’t think it would translate well as a SH game. Still,I feel bad for the fans who anticipated this. Konami is either going thru hard times or cutting of its’ collective nose to spite its’ collective face!
OverlordZetta
April 29, 2015 at 2:35 pmTo be completely fair, Yu-Gi-Oh (the card game) has been doing fine, and the new digital exclusive PSP game in Japan actually sounds kind of cool.
They basically gave up on offering a video game experience equivalent to the card game and in turn bringing it overseas though.

April 29, 2015 at 4:13 pmThey brought over Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL World Duel Carnival last year & in process removed over half of the game
