Shooter MMO Firefall Shuts Down

Red 5’s sci-fi shooter MMO Firefall is shutting down today.

The news was confirmed over on the company’s website, where they thanked players for “loyalty and dedication to the online community.”

An interesting note in the update points to a mobile version of the game, which is apparently still happening. Players from the MMO are supposed to be “rewarded greatly in the new game.”

The development of Firefall has been rocky at best, experiencing a host of editorial issues, leading to Red 5 founder and key staff member Mark Kern (also known for his work as team lead on World of Warcraft) parting ways with the game and the company. Read more about his new game, Em-8ER, here in our interview.

A PlayStation 4 version of the game was supposedly in the works, however this update making no mention of it has us thinking that has been quietly cancelled.
