Shiren the Wanderer 6 details online features, new characters, more

Spike Chunsoft has shared new info for Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island detailing its online features, new characters, and more.

Here’s a rundown on the new details:

New Rescue Options: Aid and Rescue Self

The game’s Rescue feature allows players to save other players who have collapsed in a dungeon, or to be rescued by others when they themselves have collapsed. If the rescue is successful, the fallen player can resume play without losing any belongings or Gitan (money). On a single dungeon challenge, players can issue up to three rescue requests. Additionally, the room where the rescued player is found will be turned into a monster house, where a number of monsters will appear.*

In a rescue, the rescuer cannot bring back Gitan or items they find along the way, but they can earn Aid Points at the end of a rescue. Aid Points can be used to set up Rescue Aids which can be advantageous when performing a rescue. For example, a Level 10 Aid allows the rescuer to start at level 10. With a Health Aid, the rescuer starts with HP and Fullness increased by 30.

If a rescuer succeeds, they will be rewarded with bonus Aid Points. In the event of a failed rescue, a rescuer will still earn Aid Points as determined by the items and Gitan they acquired during the attempt, as well as the floor reached.

If there is no Internet connection available, players can use Rescue Self. You will not earn Aid Points when using Rescue Self, but it is recommended if you think you can resolve the situation on your own, or are playing offline.

Share Data with Other Players Using Parallel Play

Parallel Play is a feature that allows players to upload saved data (parallel data) created at any point during a dungeon adventure to the server, enabling other players to continue the challenge. By uploading the created parallel data to the server and sharing the issued Parallel ID, other players can challenge the dungeon under the same circumstances and conditions, providing a fairer way to compete. In addition, since parallel data can be created and shared even in the middle of Parallel Play, multiple players can enjoy a relay-style dungeon adventure. Please note that even if you clear a dungeon in Parallel Play, you cannot bring back the items and Gitan obtained.*

*There are dungeons where rescue requests cannot be issued. For more details about Rescue and Parallel Play features, visit the official Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island site at: https://www.spike-chunsoft.co.jp/shiren6/en/

Characters and Monsters

Character

Kantenbo

Leader of the Recluse Monks that reside on Serpentcoil Island. He claims that the island will be destroyed if Jakaku, a monster said to dwell deep within the island, is defeated. He is hostile towards those who come seeking the rumored treasure.

Monsters

Death Reaper

A creepy-looking monster with a huge scythe. It moves at double speed and is challenging to shake off since it floats through the air and over water. Because it is a Ghost-type monster, players can damage it by throwing Herbs and other items that restore HP at it.

Ghost Radish

A monster that throws Grass causing status ailments. Level 1 Ghost Radishes throw Poison Grass, which lowers Shiren’s strength and slows him down, while higher-level versions throw Grass such as Confusion Grass and Sedating Grass.

Hat Urchin

A mischievous monster that takes Shiren’s belongings and throws them around. The Hat Urchin targets only Shiren’s Stave, but the level 2 Hat Prankster targets both Staves and Grass. As the level increases, the types of items targeted become more varied.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island (known as Shiren the Wanderer 6 in Japan) is coming west in North America and Europe on February 27th, 2024.
