Marvelous recently gave a surprise reveal with their first Nintendo Switch game, Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura. Many fans expected the game to feature ample levels of bouncing and exploding female breasts, however it sounds like the game might be a bit more on the puritan side, to match its destined hardware.
A new interview with Famitsu (via Games Jouhouo) and huge boob producer Kenichiro Takaki, it sounds like the game is deviating from its scandalous origins.
Takaki described the game as “pure” and “wholesome,” adding that they’re focusing on using the console’s HD Rumble to more accurately display character feelings. He said that for now you’ll have to use your imagination as to what they’ll use HD Rumble for.
If you watch the game’s announcement video, it’s pretty clear what they’re probably using HD Rumble for – if you catch my drift. Takaki said that he’s fascinated by the HD Rumble feature, and he predicts all kinds of things will be possible now via the new rumble technology.
Fans can expect your typical silliness and antics within Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura‘s story, however the only playable character will be Asuka. Takaki also said that you’ll be able to enjoy something differently in comparison to previous games.
Asuka’s visuals will be worked on from scratch, with the team focusing on maintaining the game’s anime visual. They’re also focused particularly on showcasing its lighting. The team is also looking at the other functions of the Switch console to utilize in game, besides its HD Rumble.
As for pricing and distribution, Takaki said the game will be digital-only, and it’s likened to a spinoff title, so it won’t be full price like the core games in the series. He also said that the Switch is extremely easy to develop for, and he’s already looking at other games he can make for the system.
Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura is launching sometime this year Japan, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
