A lot of Sega fans were upset when the new Shining game was revealed back in February, and it turned out to be a 2D fighter. Now we’ve learned that Sega is actually developing a new Shining RPG, and it’s in development by a very talented development studio.

Revealed today via Famitsu, Shining Resonance is a brand new RPG that is being developed in house by Media Vision, a developer primarily known for the Wild Arms series. We’ve also learned that Flight Unit is doing the game’s character models, and Tony is returning to form by doing the game’s character designs.

Here is the game’s first confirmed (featured above) character:

Kirika Towa Alma

“A girl who learns the ancient song magic.”

Class: Song Maiden
Weapon: Unknown
Magic: Sacred Magic

Kirika is an elf who learns the song of magic which allows her to freely change the power of nature. However, she is a better healer than a damage dealer. She may seem withdrawn at first, but she is generally known to be a kind person.

Some other information was also confirmed in the reveal, like how playing music in the game will harmonize with dragons, enabling you to unleash powerful spells and techniques. When you’re playing the game, you can hear the song magic through in game music.

Apparently, there is no transitioning between play fields and battles, meaning you’ll do all of your fighting in the same world.

A release date for Shining Resonance was not confirmed. We’ll keep you guys posted.
