Sega has announced Shining Force: Hero of Light and Darkness for smartphones, with a launch set for the first half of 2022.
Shining Force: Hero of Light and Darkness, or Shining Force: Hikari to Yami no Eiyū (tentative title) is being developed by Korean company Vespa subsidiary developer Hive under a licensing deal. The game will be free-to-play with in-game microtransactions.
While specific regions weren’t announced, the agreement includes the right to distribute services worldwide, including: Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries, as well as Europe and the United States.
“I am very pleased to have the special opportunity to recreate the masterpiece Shining Force, which represents Sega, a master of global games, in a new form through this contract,” a Vespa representative said.
They added, “We are preparing a game that many people can enjoy, not only existing users who miss the Shining series, but also users who are new to Shining Force, so I hope you can look forward to the release.”
A beta test is set for sometime before the 2022 global release, so we’ll keep you guys posted.
