“‘Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version’ was released on an unusual Monday, but thanks to many people, the box office revenue on the first day was 82,774,200 yen, and the number of spectators on the first day was 538,623, which is very good. I was able to get off to a good start. I’m sorry to ask all of you for infection control, but thank you very much.”

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time is the latest installment of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise after 2012’s Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
The latest film has been delayed twice due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and was originally intended to premiere in June 2020 before being pushed to January 2021. The film was once again delayed due to the State of Emergency that Japan was undergoing in January 2021 before finally premiering on March 8th.
An English premiere date for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time has yet to be announced, though it’s worth noting that film distributor GKIDS currently holds the theatrical rights to the Evangelion franchise in North America.
