A mod for Shenmue III has brought back the original English dub voice actors for Wuying Ren and Lan Di; Eric Kelso and Paul Lucas.
While Greg Chun and Kyle McCarley took the English dub role for Ren and Lan Di in Shenmue III, fans have now created a mod to bring back the original voice actors for the characters from Shenmue and Shenmue II.
Fan-website Shenmue Dojo states that these are newly recorded lines for each character by Eric Kelso and Paul Lucas. James Brown, the website’s administrator, also notes that both voice actors reprised their roles for free.
The mod even changes the voices for Masayuki Fukuhara and Guizhang Chen; both voiced by Kelso in the original games. Both characters only “appeared” in Shenmue III when the player is able to make an international phone call to them.
You can find the mod with installation instructions here, and the trailer below.
Protagonist Ryo Hazuki has kept his English voice actor through all three Shenmue games; Corey J. Marshall.
