Animation studio C2C has shared a new trailer for the Shangri-La Frontier anime season 2 second cour, giving a first look at the latest for the VR-themed show.

The new trailer for the Shangri-La Frontier anime season 2 cour 2 reveals a look at the anime, as well as its new opening theme performed by Awich and its new ending theme performed by CVLTE. The first episode for the new cour will premiere next week in Japan and later on western streamers like Crunchyroll.

Based on the original virtual reality game and action light novel / manga series by creator Katarina and illustrator Ryosuke Fuji, the first 25 episodes of the Shangri-La Frontier anime ran from October 2023 through March of this year.

The original novel for Shangri-La Frontier was published by Katarina back in 2017 and its manga adaptation began serialization in 2020 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen magazine. Both the original web novel and the manga are still ongoing and receive new releases.

The anime’s official synopsis reads, “Rakuro Hizutome only cares about one thing: beating crappy VR games. He devotes his entire life to these buggy games and could clear them all in his sleep. One day, he decides to challenge himself and play a popular god-tier game called Shangri-La Frontier. But he quickly learns just how difficult it is. Will his expert skills be enough to uncover its hidden secrets?”
