Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou) is getting a new anime series according to a 20th anniversary post from the official account.

The new animation reintroduces us all to the characters of Sgt. Frog, including the titular Keroro.

Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou) is an ongoing manga series created by Mine Yoshizaki in 1999 whose other works include Arcade Gamer Fubuki. He’s also credited with the character design in the series Kemono Friends and created the character Angol Fear for Soulcalibur IV as a guest designer.

An anime series based on Yoshizaki’s manga ran for 358 episodes between 2004 and 2011. The series was also accompanied by five feature films.

The series follows the titular Sergeant Keroro who’s on a mission to conquer Earth. After Keroro is discovered by the Hinata family, his home planet Keron leaves Keroro and his platoon for dead, stranding them on Earth.

With nowhere left to go, Keroro and the others are forced to live on the Earth and at times have to reconcile their duty with their comfortable new life now that they’ve been abandoned.

All 358 episodes of the original series were released in English thanks to Discotek Media.

Details are forthcoming about the series and at this time we aren’t sure of any release windows for the new anime.
