The PlayStation Store has released several new Star Wars PS2 classics. The classics just released focused on the universe established in the prequel series, but tell entirely different stories and introduce their own gameplay mechanics.

Star Wars: Starfighter (2001)

Star Wars: Starfighter is a space-ship combat game. Players initally take the role of Rhy Dallows, a Nabooian pilot-in-training for the Queen’s security forces. Rhys flies around in the N-1 Naboo Interceptor. While on a mission, he is betrayed and finds an unlikely alliance with a space pirate and mercenary. Players embark on an entire campaign of various missions, intertwining with the event of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Players will destroy enemy targets in either Nym’s space bomber, Vana’s experimental craft, or Rhy’s interceptor. And, I am pleased to say, there are absolutely no gungans in this game.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (2002)

Before the events of Star Wars Episode II; Attack of the Clones, the Emperor and Count Dooku were at threat: a rogue dark jedi with an army, known as Komari Vosa. Her whereabouts unknown, the two create a system-wide bounty on her head. Players play as Jango Fett, the most ruthless bounty hunter in the galaxy. In this combat adventure game, players will explore worlds deep in the Star Wars criminal underground, from Coroscaunt to Oovoo IV to Malastare. Players will also gain access to Jango’s full arsenal of weapons and tools to defeat his enemies.

Star Wars: Episode III The Game (2005)

Initially called “the most action-packed Star Wars game ever,” the game is simply that: all action. The game tells the tale of the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The end of The Clone Wars, General Grievous, Anakin’s Betrayal, Order 66, all the way up to the fateful battle on Mustafar. The game has players play as either Anakin or Obi-Wan, as they engage in constant, light-saber combat with Clone troopers and Confederate forces. The players can upgrade their skills, engage in epic boss fights, and dive deeper into the movie by participating in deeper missions not seen in the movie, such as the destruction of the jedi temple.

Star Wars: Racer Revenge (2001)

The spiritual successor to the infamously popular Star Wars Episode 1: Racer on the Nintendo 64, Racer Revenge has players racing at high-speeds across various planets with silky high frame-rates and fast paced action. With more tracks, characters, pod-racers, and vividly imagined settings, the  game brings back the fast-paced and unique racing fun established in the N64 predecessor. The game was made by the same people that made the multi-installment ATV Offroad Fury series.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that you can get all the above games via the Star Wars Mega-Bundle, which is available for the Playstation 3. The bundle comes at $45, with each game being sold at $9 seperately. For Star Wars fans, or gamers that want to look into the past during the glory days of the PlayStation 2, you certainly don’t want to miss these games.
