A new rumor claims several Assassin’s Creed games are in development, including one purportedly set in Japan.
One of the highlights of modern Ubisoft has been the Assassin’s Creed series. Their latest earnings report noted an increasing playerbase over the last year. This is why it comes to no surprise that multiple projects that are current in development for the series.
The new rumor is making its way through several sources (Kotaku, Giant Bomb) that the first would be Project Rift, DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that has become its own standalone title. Currently not much is known about this game, I am excited to see more of the story of Eivor.
The second is coming to their liveservice project, Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Within this new platform for the series is the codenamed “Project Red,” a new title that is rumored to be set in Asia or possibly Japan, specifically.
It would seem that the Assassin’s Creed IP has been spared the cuts that have hit many of Ubisoft’s other IPs, but only time will tell whether or not the choice to make a live-service title in the series is a good idea. But if I had to put my money on it, I would wager probably not.
