Seven Seas Entertainment has announced they’ve acquired the license to publish Hitom-chan is Shy With Strangers, a slice-of-life romantic comedy.
The acquisition of the license was announced on the company’s Facebook page on May 18th. The series follows the titular Takano Hitomi, a shy and busty tomboy whose reputation is fraught with misunderstandings due to her intimidating appearance. Usami Yuu is a short young man whose appearance contrasts with the boisterous Hitomi; but he’s the one that will slowly help her break out of her shell.

Seven Seas Entertainment is delighted to announce the license acquisition of the manga series Hitomi-chan is Shy With Strangers by Chorisuke Natsumi, a romantic comedy about an intimidating high school girl who just needs help opening up!
Tall and busty high school girl Takano Hitomi has shark teeth, a looming presence, and an intense facial expression. However, looks can be deceiving. Beneath her imposing frame and piercing glare, Hitomi-chan is a sweet first-year student who just wants to overcome her social anxiety and make some friends. Enter Usami Yuu, a second-year boy who is shorter than Hitomi but not put off by her intimidating looks. A friendship blossoms–and maybe more! Don’t miss this charming romcom between a scary-but-sweet girl and her smaller, loving senpai.
Seven Seas Entertainment has recently been the target of fan backlash for censoring and removing parts of their published light novels. So much so that they have had to go back and reprint some of the series due to the egregious changes.
Hitomi-chan is Shy With Strangers premieres in English this October.
