Below Set for Summer 2016 Release, New Trailer

Capybara Games’ brooding and dark roguelike dungeon crawler, Below, has gotten a release window.

The game will launch for PC and Xbox One sometime this summer. Alongside the release window is a new trailer, which you can view above.

Capybara describe the game as challenging, brutal, roguelike, and yet fair. As you explore, you’ll enter procedurally-generated dungeons, so no two playthroughs will be the same.

There’s roguelike used as a marketing buzzword again. =P Does this even have permadeath? Is this the one where you can find your loot on your corpse later? It’s been so long since we saw anything about this game I can’t remember much.

That being said I’m glad it’s finally coming out. The final version is looking rather nice.

You win some you lose some. Elona+ is considered a rougelike by many just due to being similar to ADOM despite not even having permadeath on by default.

It’s definitely visually interesting, but “roguelikes” are 99% about gameplay. Good look making a game without real characters, graphics more detailed than “shadows and geometric shapes” and procedural areas interesting.
