Senior Capcom Designer Neo G Leaves for SNK Playmore

street fighter 3 third strike 04-04-16-1

We’ve learned that veteran Capcom designer Hidetoshi “Neo G” Ishizawa has left the company.

He’s already found a new home at rival fighting game developer SNK Playmore. Before you start expecting some kind of amazing development from his joining the studio, temper your hype a bit as we expect Ishizawa is probably helping the studio finish up The King of Fighters XIV.

If the name doesn’t ring a bell, you’ve sampled games Ishizawa has worked on from the likes of Street Fighter III: Third StrikeMarvel vs. Capcom 2, Darkstalkers 3, and even both Capcom vs. SNK releases. He was at Capcom since 1995, so his departure after 20 years is a big deal.

Make no mistake, Ishizawa has worked on more fighting games than anything else at Capcom, so perhaps we’ll see him working on more things from SNK Playmore, the developer has talked up the possibility of doing a new Samurai Shodown, and maybe even a Garou: Mark of the Wolves sequel.

The King of Fighters XIV is set to launch sometime later this year on PlayStation 4, worldwide.

I hope SNK are able to show how to make fighting games good and loaded with content unlike another company (looking at you Capcom).

I’m getting some whiffs of classic SNK and Capcom rivalry.

Really hoping KoFXIV turns out good and can provide some stiff competition.

Looked up Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Kinda disappointed it has nothing to do with Garo.

It makes sense that such a talent will continue working on fighting games.

KOFXIV looks to be a much more complete game than SFV and I’m really excited to play it.

Still an awesome fighter, I’d recommend you try it via fightcade with a nice GGPO connection.

I held off on buying SFV so that I could get KoF instead. Capcom fucked up big time with V.

I was still pissed the way the handled 4 and I was very suspicious of V, despite them saying you could earn characters and costumes. When the whole butt slap removal happened I decided to wait how it all turns out and I made the right call. KOF14 will be a full game and I too am looking forward to it.

People should wait before they say stuff.. Just because there are loads of characters doesn’t mean the game is going to be amazing. It might be terrible for all we know. Let’s wait and see what comes of it.
