Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Sold Over 5 Million Copies, Free Update Coming October 29

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Activision have announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold over 5 million copies, and that a free update is coming October 29th.

In the blog post, it is revealed the update will add the ability to re-fight bosses, boss gauntlets, create and share “player movement recordings,” and more.

First off, the update will add the ability for Sculptor’s Idols to be used for “self-reflection.” Reflecting on memories of fallen foes translates into “Reflections of Strength” for rematches against slain bosses.

This is recommended as training for the upcoming Gauntlets of Strength- where players have only a single life to challenge. Other things mentioned in the blog suggest there are multiple “Gauntlets” to attempt, and that these are boss rush challenges.

Players will also be able to change their outfit at Sculptor’s Idols; two unlocked through the Gauntlets, and the third for beating the game. Two of these costumes are a Tengu costume, and an Old Ashina Shinobi costume. All of these are purely aesthetical. One of these costumes can be seen below.

The “Remnants” are now a way for players to share and learn how to get around the environment and slay foes. Recordings of up to 30 seconds can be uploaded along with a written message. This could allow players to learn how to find secrets, or take down a particularly tricky boss. When a Remnant is rated, the creator will “will have their HP recover for free.”

Once again, the free update is coming October 29th. You can find the full rundown (via Steam) below.
