UPDATE:
We’ve learned that Sega does not have a new Yakuza game planned for a reveal at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, news confirmed by Yakuza series chief producer Masayoshi Yokoyama in a tweet. He added that while a game reveal isn’t happening at the event, the series is getting closer to its 15th anniversary, so various things are planned – and that a new game is obviously in development.
ORIGINAL STORY:
It seems like the biggest announcement from this year’s Tokyo Game Show was prematurely revealed, and it’s for another new Yakuza game.
The news comes from Sega Nama co-host Ayana Tsubaki (via Games Jouhou), who said in a (now deleted) tweet that “the latest title in the Ryu ga Gotoku will finally be announced, so don’t miss it!” Both Tsubaki and Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi will be hosting the presentation.
The official description for the livestream originally gave a generic message about showing the latest information regarding the Yakuza series, but obviously made no mention of a new title as that would ruin the surprise.
Fans will be able to tune into the latest Sega Nama broadcast during Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online on September 27th, at 8 PM Japan time (7AM Eastern, 10 AM Pacific). You can watch the presentation live via YouTube, Niconico, and even Periscope.
