Sega Nabs Exclusive Rights to Sell Official Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games Worldwide

Sega has announced (via 4Gamer) they’ve obtained the exclusive rights to distribute official games for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

The news is somewhat surprising, considering how involved Nintendo was in the closing ceremonies of the Rio Olympics, which took place earlier this year.

So what does this mean for Olympic-branded video games, and the expected Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games title?

We’ll probably get a new Olympics game with Sonic the Hedgehog, but the real question will be if Sega keeps the game on Nintendo platforms by adding Super Mario characters, or simply going their own route under this exclusivity clause.

Further details weren’t announced.
