Sega has revealed the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Mini 2, alongside the first list of confirmed titles for the throwback console.
The Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Mini 2 is launching on October 27, 2022 in Japan, costs 9,980 yen, and is smaller than its predecessor.
The Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Mini 2 will feature over 50 games that were available the Sega Mega Drive (known as the Genesis in the US), and Sega CD. They also include “bonus titles” which were games not available on the original consoles, one example being Fantasy Zone.
Here’s a list of the currently confirmed games for the retro console:
Original cartridge games
- Bonanza Bros.
- Fantasy Zone
- Magical Taruruto
- Shining in the Darkness
- Thunder Force IV
- Virtua Racing
SEGA or Mega CD games
- Mansion of Hidden Souls
- Popful Mail
- Shining Force CD
- Silpheed
- Sonic the Hedgehog CD
There will also be a Genesis / Mega Drive Tower Mini 2 add-on that is cosmetic, for 4500 yen. Additional Fighting Pad 6B controllers will also be available for 2,500 yen.
They also announced with this a livestream series to promote the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Mini 2 along with a schedule for the planned streams, including: June 24th at 8 PM JST, Mid-July, early August, and late August.
