Second Global Mission for Pokemon Sun and Moon Revealed

Following the failed global mission Nintendo first launched for Pokémon Sun and Moon, the company has revealed the game’s second global mission.

The new mission will require Sun and Moon players defeating a total of 1 million Pokemon, utilizing the games Island Scan feature.

Running from December 27th at 4:00 UTC and ending on January 9th at 23:59 UTC, should players be successful in their quest they’ll get 2,017 Festival Coins without a Global Link account, and 4,034 if they have an account. If the mission is a failure yet again, players without an account will get 217 coins, while players with an account get 434 coins.

In case you missed it, you can find our review for Pokémon Sun and Moon here (we highly recommend it!).

TBH I think a big reason why the last one failed is because a huge amount of the copies of the game being sold were probably christmas presents, and therefore not being played until christmas.

Now all the kids have their new pokemanz game and this mission will likely be crushed.

I think it’s more that Nintendo is overestimating anybody actually knowing how to access the global missions. Everyone I know playing barely goes into Festival Plaza itself.

    There’s that too.
I remember reading someone talking about not many people even knowing about the festival plaza.

You also have to physically register your game to the global link on the website. I’m sure if you just got added by just going online they would’ve met the goal.

That’s probably the main factor. You have to go into the game, complete the tutorial, initiate the connection in-game, and THEN go online to complete it.

That’s a lot of hoops to jump through for what should be a simple side activity.

Not to mention, does anybody actually use the global link site? The last time I did was for the dream world stuff.

Their last mission required capturing tens of millions. This… is probably not as extreme.

So capturing them is a no no?

An argument for Pokemon to be a multiplatform release, I’d wager.

I’m pretty sure registering on their website just doubles your prize and all you need is to accept the mission at the Festival Plaza castle. Of course, you SHOULD register anyway in that case.

Hoping for another fail. Just something that would prove hand-holding ruins a game.
