Sean Bean is Stunned That He Was Killed Again in Civilization VI

I previously joked that because Sean Bean was the narrator in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, he finally landed a role where he couldn’t be killed off.

It simply made no sense, how could the Firaxis team figure out a way to kill him off? Now, we’ve not only learned he’s been killed off, Firaxis managed to record his reaction to learning he was axed yet again.

Featured above, you can view the behind-the-scenes video featuring Sean himself, as he talks up the differences between recording lines for film and video games. The question revealing his character’s death comes up around the 1:00 mark, and Sean’s reaction is quite priceless.

It’s worth pointing out that even I missed the subtle hint that his character was shot down in an aerial dogfight within the game’s intro cinematic – it took Firaxis pointing it out themselves.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is currently available for PC. In case you missed it, you can find my thorough review of the game here (I highly recommend it!).
