Sea of Thieves is celebrating their first “Captain’s Week” event from June 15 until June 22! To celebrate, players will get some buffs to gold-earned as well as an opportunity to earn limited-time rewards.
So what all is on offer? Boosted gold, boosted allegiance, and two fancy looking swords for the discerning pirate.
What is Captain’s Week?
Captain’s Week is a weeklong event celebrating changes made to the Captaincy mechanic in Sea of Thieves. These changes make it easier for players to earn milestones and unlock cosmetics that previously required a much MUCH more tedious grind than they did at launch.
What is Captaincy?
Introduced in Season 7, Captaincy is the ability to buy, name, and further customize your own ship within the Sea of Thieves. Actions done on a captained ship are all tracked and milestones are rewarded. These actions range from the exciting such as “Skeleton Lords Vanquished” to the mundane such as “Provisions Eaten”. These milestones also had ship decorations locked behind them, typically a little trinket or wall-hanging that can be added exclusively to captained ships.
Previously, the rewards for these milestones required up to rank 100 for the most fabulous rewards. Now these milestone requirements are being reduced to only 30 for the best available cosmetic for a particular milestone.
What are the bonuses during Captain’s Week?
During Captain’s Week, players will get extra bonus Gold and Reputation for selling items to the Sovereigns, a vendor exclusive only to pirates aboard captained ships that take nearly all treasure excluding broken flags and Reaper Chests.
Players will also get bonus Renown for the season pass for unlocking rewards; and most importantly bonus Allegiance for the PvP factions the Guardians of Athena’s Fortune and the Servants of the Flame.
Unlocking the Captain’s Rapier and Captain’s Heavy Sword
The Captain’s Rapier and Captain’s Heavy Sword are time-limited rewards unlocked during Captain’s Week. These are incredibly easy to obtain through normal play.
- The Captain’s Rapier: Sell 50 items to the Sovereigns
- The Captain’s Heavy Sword: Sell 150 items to the Sovereigns
The only items that don’t count are meat items that reward Hunter’s Call reputation. A single Gold Hoarder Vault or Merchant Alliance Lost Shipment can put a sizeable dent in completing these rewards, complete two or three and you’re pretty much done. So don’t stress these objectives too much, if you just play normally throughout the week you’ll likely end up getting the swords without even trying.
