Developer Improbable Worlds Limited announced they’re shutting down Scavengers, their multiplayer survival game.
“The last few months have seen a decline in the player base, and whilst we explored many options to reinvigorate server population while the game is in Early Access, it became clear that it was unsustainable to continue development and live service,” Improbable said in a statement.
They added, “We’re all proud of what we accomplished, and are grateful to every player who took the time to play, even if it was just for a short while.”
Scavengers had issues with its early access development, mostly due to Improbable Worlds Limited selling off its original developer Midwinter Entertainment, to Behaviour Interactive. The previously announced console ports were cancelled earlier this year due to this as well.
The studio was originally formed by ex-343 Industries developers and saw a number of playable demos released, culminating with its 2021 early access release for PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
