Samurai Warriors 4 Is Getting The Xtreme Legends Treatment

SW4II1

Samurai Warriors 4 will be getting similar treatment to the most recent Dynasty Warriors games and their Xtreme Legends versions. Dubbed Samurai Warriors 4 II, the title will essentially be the same game with a few tweaks, additions, and a bit of a touch up.

Ii Naomasa will be added as a playable character. He’s voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi and wields a spear in battle. A few new stages have been added as well: you’ll gain access to Osaka Castle, Koshu, Honzugawa Gate, Kuisegawa and Oshu. The main story mode that follows the different factions will be different from the original available in Samurai Warriors 4.

Infinite Castle Survival Mode from the original Samurai Warriors is being added back in. Several systems are being redone, with the reforms covering the Hyper Attack system, weapon overhauls, and the warhorse growth systems. Enemy AI is getting adjusted, although whether they are becoming more difficult to kill (please!) is uncertain at this point. And lastly, events have been modified so the player can move the camera around and get different angles on all of the awesome.

The game’s pricing is set at essentially full price, with the PS4 version running 7,344 yen for the retail release, 12,744 yen for the Treasure Box special edition, and 6,480 yen for a digital download. The PS3 and Vita prices are set at 6,264 yen for retail, 11,664 yen for the Treasure Box, and 5,554 yen for download. The game is set for a February 11th release in Japan.

While I’m really happy to see Samurai Warriors getting some love, picking up the game for full price may be a bit much. It sounds like one to wait for a price drop on. However, if they reform the Hyper Attack system to make it less of an easy-mode button, then I’m all in.
