Rumor: Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remaster Heading to PS4 in Q3 2018

Following the successful and wonderful Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, there’s a new rumor (via Kotaku) that Activision is actually remastering the classic Spyro the Dragon trilogy.

The trilogy will include all three classic Insomniac Games-developed titles from the PlayStation 1, including: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Fans can expect the port to have new assets, animations, lighting, remastered music, content cut from the original releases, an updated save feature, and new cinematics. The announcement is rumored to be set for March of this year.

Reportedly, Vicarious Visions (the same folks that did the Crash Bandicoot remaster) are handling this release, and it’s set for a release in Q3 of this year. The PlayStation 4 release will be timed-exclusive for one year, after which it will come to other platforms in 2019.

As with any rumor, please take this with a grain of salt. Would you like to see a remaster of Spyro the Dragon in lieu of the Skylanders nonsense? Sound off in the comments below!
