Sony’s Game Pass competitor will be announced soon, says new rumor

Sony's Game Pass competitor will be announced soon

Yet another rumor is swirling that Sony’s Game Pass competitor will be announced soon, citing once again anonymous folks on the long-rumored service.

The new rumor that Sony’s Game Pass competitor will be announced soon comes via Bloomberg, likely spurring Sony’s PR and legal team to comb their staff for leaks even further.

The rumor notes Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s wildly popular Xbox Game Pass could be announced as early as next week, and it will debut with a “a splashy lineup of hit games from recent years.”

As covered in multiple other rumor reports, the purported Sony subscription service will offer three different tiers and will serve as a new merger of both PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus.

If real, fans can expect the subscription to include access to older games from the modern era and older PlayStation generations, as well as other perks like longer playable demos and streaming games (as opposed to downloading them).

In comparison to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, the rumor also notes Sony is not expected to offer their first-party titles for free on the service – at least not when they launch – which Microsoft does with all their published games now.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
