Halo: The Master Chief Collection may not require Xbox Live Gold, according to some sources.
An article posted by Brendan Lowry on Windows Central proposes that while the game will require an Xbox Live account, it will not require Xbox Live Gold.
“It’s because Microsoft decided that Xbox Live games on non-Xbox platforms won’t require a subscription to Xbox Live Gold. This is most likely because every other service on the PC platform doesn’t require a paid subscription, so to make PC players pay for Xbox Live titles would have gone over poorly with the PC community.”
While there have been cases of Windows PC games requiring an Xbox Live account not needing an Xbox Live Gold, we still have not had official word from Microsoft Studios if this will be the case.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming soon to Windows PC. It is currently available on Xbox One.
